Jacob is primarily interested in using novel techniques in statistical and mathematical modeling to explore plant community function, primarily in forest systems. More specifically, he hopes to gain mechanistic understanding of how inter- and intra-species interactions facilitate co-existence and community function, and how those interactions scale and are affected by perturbations such as climate change.
